Irmina Rivero Owens focuses her practice on immigration and nationality law with emphasis on family immigration law. Ms. Owens represents clients in obtaining legal permanent residency (Green Card) and citizenship and represents clients with consular process before the United States Department of State. She also assists persons who are victims of domestic violence or violent crimes in obtaining immigrant visas under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and U visa provisions of the law. She also assists persons seek other types of relief under the immigration laws such as Temporary Protected Status, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and NACARA.
Ms. Owens was born in Havana, Cuba and has spent most of her life in Georgia. She is a graduate of Emory University School of Law. She has practiced immigration and nationality law since 1996. She is an active member of the bar of the State of Georgia and a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta Class of 2000.
Ms. Owens was Director of Immigration Services at the Latin American Association in Atlanta, Georgia for almost 10 years before establishing her firm in 2005. She is a frequent speaker on immigration topics to local community groups and organizations.
